01 Sep Tres’OR Launched: For a Sustainable, Multilingual Future
With great joy and full of energy, we can announce today: The project Tres’OR has now officially started! This trinational school and teaching project will not only shape the future of education in the Upper Rhine region but also significantly contribute to promoting a sustainable, democratic, and multilingual society.
Overcoming Borders, Shaping the Future
In view of the growing challenges and increasing population density in the tri-border region of the Upper Rhine, stronger cross-border cooperation is more important than ever. Tres’OR addresses precisely this point: Cross-border cooperation in education is to be strengthened to impart to today’s students the values and competencies necessary for living and working together across national borders.
Tres’OR aims to firmly anchor democratic values, understanding of digital transformation, multilingualism, and intercultural competencies in everyday school life. In the coming years, the project will develop and implement diverse cross-border school projects and teacher training sessions on these topics. These will then be transformed into didactic materials that will be made available to all schools and educational institutions in the Upper Rhine region.
A Strong Network for a Sustainable Future
Tres’OR is supported by an impressive partnership consisting of educational institutions, public institutions, and regional partners from the three participating countries – Germany, France, and Switzerland. Tres’OR works closely with the “Education and Training” working group of the Upper Rhine Conference to ensure the sustainable use and further development of the didactic materials even after the end of the Tres’OR project.
The participating institutions will systematically integrate the developed concepts and materials into their programs, continuously develop them further, and thus promote cross-border exchange at all educational levels. Additionally, all products will be made available on the regional websites and IT platforms of the schools to ensure broad use and implementation.
The Project in Numbers:
Tres’OR will be funded and co-financed with a total project sum of 3,515,797.53 € over the coming years, with a duration from 01.07.2024 to 31.12.2027. Here is an overview of the financial support:

- Eligible project costs: 3,160,115.38 €
- Project sponsor: Pedagogical State Institute of Rhineland-Palatinate (507,155.22 €)
- Other partner institutions: Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate, FHNW – Institute for Primary Education, EGTC Eurodistrict PAMINA, Canton of Aargau, Canton of Basel-Stadt, and many more
A Strong Team for a Shared Vision
Tres’OR is not just an educational project – it is a significant step towards a sustainable, democratic, and inclusive future for the Upper Rhine region. Through the collaboration of schools and educational institutions in Germany, France, and Switzerland, a new form of transnational cooperation in education is being created, uniting young people across language barriers.
We look forward to the coming years and the many exciting projects that we will implement together with our partners and the schools in the Upper Rhine region. Let us work together to master the challenges of the future and promote a strong, diverse, and sustainable society.
